Painted Wulfen for my Space Wolves

As noted, I am working on a Chaos project for the new, 8th Edition of Warhammer 40K. Nonetheless, there is still stuff from my current (and still main) 40K army on my table, including these lovely Wulfen I managed to finish.

They are lovely models, if tedious to paint due to the masses of small detail. After having a look at the new Force Organisation Charts („detachments“) for Warhammer 40K 8th Edition, I am somewhat relieved I won’t have to paint a full formation for them to be viable on the table (as formations are officially … gone!)

#1 – Wulfen with Thunderhammer & Stormshield

The indispensable Stormshield/Thunderhammer combo!

#2 – Wulfen Clawfinger

A Wulfen without any added gear, I intended to mainly use as 1st casualty. Let’s see how that works out in Warhammer 40K 8th Edition.

#3 – Wulfen with Frost Axe

The mighty Frost Axe is a unique weapons available in the kit, so I had to include one (though it pales, by current rules, in comparison to the mighty TH/SS combo).

#4 – Wulfen Conversion

One thing the Wulfen kit is not very good for is conversions. Nevertheless, I couldn’t resist trying at least a head swap. Born was the Wulfen Beaky of Doom!

I actually quite like the guy.

#5 – Wulfen Leader of the Pack

Last but not least, the Wulfen Pack Leader with Frost Claws and a … hold your breath … Stormfrag Auto-Launcher. All of it equipment unique to the Wulfen. This model arguably had a bit more conversion work done to it to avoid the very upright „Trinity-Matrix“-post the pack leader miniature has by default.

Wulfen pack ready for battle!
